Most of you are probably unaware of the Slam Dunk to the Beach Basketball Tournament. Having completed its second year, it is an annual winter tournament for top tier High School teams in the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast to compete in a 3 day event at the Cape Henlopen High School gymnasium located in Lewes, DE.
Headed up by the Delaware Sports Commission (one of The Foundation's esteemed partners), the event grew significantly from the very successful year prior and is expected to grow even more in 2016.
Working for Dover Motorsports and supporting the DSC Jason Anderson was actively involved in setting up the 2014 tournament. It was just three short weeks after the first tournament ended that Jason lost his life in a car accident. The Delaware Sports Commission, and other affiliates that were involved in getting the 2015 event off the ground, graciously offered to partner with The Jason Anderson Foundation by donating the proceeds from this year’s 50/50 raffle. On the last night of the Slam Dunk event the Foundation was presented with an $800 donation contributed by hundreds of fans over the course of the three days which added to our fundraising goals for 2015.
Slam Dunk to the Beach is a great event so please take a look at the images below and catch the action - on one photo, you will see The Foundation's logo appointed to the top left corner of the television screen during the live streamed event on local stations.
A special thanks also goes out to Southern Delaware Signs who graciously donated the Foundation poster boards for the event.
